uPVC Doors and Windows in Abu Dhabi
uPVC window and door systems supplied and fitted across Abu Dhabi. uPVC insulates better than aluminium and costs less — but not every profile handles this climate the same way, and the difference is inside the frame where you cannot see it.
The Material Does the Insulating
Aluminium conducts heat brilliantly, which is why an aluminium window has to have a thermal break engineered into it. uPVC is a poor conductor to start with, so the frame was never a heat path in the first place. On top of that, a uPVC profile is not solid — it is extruded with several sealed air chambers running through it, and every chamber is one more barrier between the hot outside face and the cool inside face.
That is the honest case for uPVC here. For a normal residential window you get better thermal performance for less money than a comparable thermally broken aluminium window. Pair a multi-chamber profile with a low-E double-glazed unit and the whole assembly does well against what Estidama expects, without paying for an expensive frame.
The catch is structural. uPVC is not as strong as aluminium, so wide spans, heavy sashes and slim sightlines are where aluminium starts to earn its price.
Four Things That Separate a Good Profile From a Cheap One
Galvanised steel reinforcement
uPVC is not stiff enough on its own, so larger frames and sashes carry a galvanised steel section inside the main chamber. Leaving it out is the easiest invisible saving a supplier can make — and the reason a big frame bows a year later.
UV stabilisation
Unstabilised PVC yellows and turns brittle under constant sun. Profiles meant for this region are formulated with UV stabilisers so the surface holds colour and the material keeps its impact strength.
Welded corners, cleaned properly
Good uPVC frames are mitre-cut and heat-welded into one continuous corner. A corner screwed together is a water path. And the weld should be cleaned neatly — a rough weld line tells you plenty about the rest of the fabrication.
Dark colours and heat
A dark uPVC frame in full sun runs a lot hotter than a white one. Dark finishes are done with laminated foils made for it, never paint. If you want anthracite or a wood effect, it is worth confirming the profile is specified for external use in this climate.

Gaskets, Locking and Drainage
Gear that engages at several heights up the sash and pulls it evenly onto the gasket. It is as much a sealing component as a security one — one central catch lets the sash bow at top and bottom.
The rubber seals are what actually stop the dust and the air. EPDM handles UV and heat far better than cheaper compounds, which harden, shrink and pull out of the corners.
Like aluminium, uPVC frames take in a little water and drain it back out. Those weep slots have to stay clear — blocked drainage causes far more leaks than failed seals do.
Beading on the inside means the glass cannot be lifted out from the street. Worth having on ground-floor and accessible windows.
uPVC, Aluminium or WPC?
uPVC for most residential windows and for bathroom and utility doors — better insulation per dirham, nothing to corrode, nothing to repaint. Aluminium where the span is wide, the sash is heavy, the sightline has to be slim, or the building spec calls for it — see aluminium windows and aluminium doors. Badly formulated profiles do. Profiles made for a climate like this are formulated with UV stabilisers so they keep their colour and their impact strength under constant sun. The other half of the answer is reinforcement — a large frame without the galvanised steel inside it can bow no matter how good the compound is.

Thermally, yes — uPVC is a poor conductor and the profile is full of sealed air chambers, while aluminium needs an engineered thermal break to get close. Structurally, no — aluminium is far stronger, so wide spans, heavy sashes and slim sightlines belong to it. For a standard villa window, uPVC usually gives you more performance for the money.
03What is steel reinforcement and why does it matter?
A galvanised steel section sitting inside the main chamber of the profile, carrying the load that uPVC cannot carry alone. It is completely invisible once the window is made, which is exactly why it is the first thing a cheap supplier leaves out.
04Can I get uPVC in something other than white?
Yes — anthracite grey, wood effects and other finishes are applied as laminated foils, not paint. Worth knowing that a dark frame in direct sun runs much hotter than a white one, so confirm the profile is rated for external use here before you commit to a dark colour.
05Are uPVC windows secure?
As secure as the hardware you put in them. Multi-point locking that engages at several heights, internal glazing beads so the glass cannot be lifted from outside, and laminated glass where it matters. The profile is rarely the weak point — the lock and the glazing method are.
06Do you install as well as supply?
Yes, our own team fits them. On windows the installation matters more than people assume — a well-made frame in a badly prepared opening, with the perimeter joint sealed wrongly, will still let in water and dust.
