As a facade contractor in Abu Dhabi we fabricate and install both systems. A curtain wall is a structural aluminium mullion grid carrying large glass panels; ACP cladding is a lightweight skin of two aluminium sheets bonded to a core. What Else Do We Fabricate and Install?
Aluminium, glass and cladding are the bulk of what we do, but a villa or office fit-out rarely stops there. Rather than hand you off to three different subcontractors, we cover the trades that usually sit alongside the glazing work:

If your job needs two or three of these together, say so on the first call. We would rather sequence it properly than have a painter arrive before the frames are in.
Aluminium or uPVC — Which One Suits Your Property?
We fit both, so here is the honest version rather than the sales version.
Aluminium is the stronger material, so it carries larger panes on slimmer sightlines. For wide sliding doors, full-height glazing, shopfronts and anything structural, aluminium is the practical choice. Thermally broken profiles close most of the insulation gap.
uPVC insulates well by nature and costs less on smaller openings. It suits standard-size bedroom and bathroom windows. The thing to check is the grade and the UV stabilisation, because Gulf sun is harder on plastics than European sun.
For most Abu Dhabi villas we end up specifying aluminium on the big openings and letting uPVC handle the smaller ones. That is a judgement made on your actual openings at the site visit, not from a price list.
What Does Abu Dhabi’s Climate Actually Do to Frames and Glass?
Abu Dhabi sits in a BWh hot desert climate. The annual mean is around 29°C and the average annual maximum around 33°C, but July and August averages sit near 40°C. Relative humidity swings roughly between 43% in May and 69% in January, and rainfall is close to nothing for most of the year. That combination does three specific things:
Heat cycling loosens things.
Aluminium expands and contracts every day. Fixings that were tight in March work loose by August if the frame was not shimmed and anchored properly.
Humidity plus heat kills cheap gaskets.
EPDM and silicone seals harden, shrink and let dust and conditioned air through. Most “draughty window” call-outs we attend are a seal problem, not a glass problem.
Fine sand gets into tracks.
Sliding doors that jam are usually running on a track full of grit, or on rollers that were never rated for the weight of the door.
On the coastal communities — Saadiyat, Yas, Al Reem — salt in the air is a fourth factor, and hardware grade matters more there than it does inland.
Do Your Windows Need Estidama Approval?
If it is a new build in Abu Dhabi, almost certainly yes. Under an Executive Council Order of May 2010, all new buildings in the emirate must meet a minimum 1 Pearl rating under the Estidama Pearl Rating System from September 2010, and government-funded buildings must reach 2 Pearls. The system is administered by the Department of Municipalities and Transport and runs in three protocols — the Pearl Building Rating System, the Pearl Villa Rating System for villas, and the Pearl Community Rating System.
For glazing that matters at the design stage, not after. Retrofitting a window specification to pass a rating is far more expensive than getting it right in the first quote. If you are replacing windows in an existing villa rather than building new, Estidama generally does not apply — but building and fire-safety rules enforced by the local municipality still do.

What Affects the Cost of Aluminium and Glass Work?
We do not publish prices, because a fair quote depends on what your opening actually is. These are the variables that move the number most:
Opening size and span.
Wide sliding doors and full-height glazing need heavier profiles and thicker glass than a standard bedroom window.
Glass type and thickness.
Tempered and laminated behave differently and are priced differently. A frameless shower panel, a staircase balustrade and a facade pane are three separate engineering problems.
Profile system.
Thermally broken aluminium costs more per metre than a basic profile, and lasts differently in this climate.
Finish.
Standard powder coat, a colour match to existing frames, or a wood-finish coating are not the same job.
Access.
Ground-floor villa work is straightforward. Tower and high-level facade work needs access equipment and building-management coordination.
